Craig Alaska and Prince of Wales Island is the adventure center of Southeast Alaska. The following is just a sampling of the adventures, tours, and excursions that you can enjoy when you visit Prince of Wales Island.

  • Drive the island. Ketchikan Alaska will be your jumping off point for a four-wheel island adventure. It is served by the Alaska Marine Highway which bring vehicles north from Seattle and south from Haines and Skagway.

    The Inter-Island Ferry service now links P.O.W. with Ketchikan. After a short three hour trip, you arrive in the town of Hollis. From there you can drive your car or recreational vehicle for hundreds of miles, visiting the small communities. Usually you will see more wildlife on the roads than other other vehicles. Fuel is available in Craig, Klawock, Thorne Bay, Naukati, Coffman Cove, Whale Pass, and Hydaburg.

  • Rent a kayak and explore the endless waterways that surround the small communities on Prince of Wales. Rentals are available in Craig and Klawock. I have found great information about kayaking in Alaska at kayakonline.com
